Self-control is saying no to bad things, saying yes to good things (in the right amount), and directing our desires to the good, true, and beautiful.

Charity—love—is willing the good of the other, which at times may result in our suffering.

Compassion is a reason for the Incarnation. Jesus became man so that he could enter into our suffering and redeem it; give it meaning through his loving acceptance of it.

Faith is man’s response to the generous love of God. We exhibit faith by trusting God in his revelation and in his Church. Playing on a team and learning to trust our coach and our teammates cultivates a lively faith.

Discipline allows us to act like the children of God we are, and say no to the world's shoddy, knock-offs of the true, good, and beautiful. Lent is a great time to practice self-discipline. And all the virtues were learning, including discipline, will prepare our youth for marriage or holy orders someday!

Give thanks to God as a family for all your blessings. We also have so many people, experiences, and things in our lives for which we should be grateful.

Justice is the habit of giving other persons, especially God, what they are due. That's why going to Mass is an obligation. We also want right relationship with others. For us as Christians, justice comes down to the Golden Rule.
